Please join Wend and Luis on July 27, 2024 as we celebrate our wedding in Santa Fe, NM.

This is your excuse to wear that outfit!

Wend’s Story

Wendolyne (she, ella) is originally from Mexico, she studied Communications and Journalism in Mexico. Shortly after her arrival to the USA, Wend, decided to changed careers to embrace her maternal grandmother’s teachings in healing arts, and the studies in multiple lineages of nutrition practices. She is the founder of a grassroots Org focused in strengthening mental and physical wellbeing of the Latine immigrant communities in Durango, CO.

Today, she works with TWU; teaches classes at OSF, cares for the Full Circle Garden with III-SC, and is pursuing the max grade, as a Clinical Dietitian with the UNM; while she wears her fav hat, Tenoch’s Mom.

Luis’ Story

Luis (he, el) is originally from Caracas, Venezuela. He studied Journalism in Kent State University and held an almost 30 year long career in the field where he was nominated and submitted an entry for the Pulitzer Prize. He has won several awards as a Photojournalist and had a blast.

Luis is currently changing to a career in Nursing, merging into full time student for the next few years.

He is passionate about photography, traveling, motorcycles, and, most of all, his new family.

Today, he is committed to be a curious student at SFCC, and walking the parenthood path after thinking that this type of ticket was not available for him.

Our Relationship

We met on July 10, 2021, right after Wendolyne decided to move to NM to take a break from Colorado. Our shared first language, passion for traveling, and love for learning new things every day created an instant familiarity, helping us build a solid foundation to grow as a couple.

We considered getting married during our travels in Europe last year, overlooking the Eiffel Tower. (We know, getting engaged in Paris is so uncommon and rare :D.) But we thought, why not?!

Fun fact: we got together because at that point neither of us wanted babies… oh dear Universe, joke’s on us.

WHY GETTING MARRIED?

While eating, friends will be accompanying us with music. Feel free to share words, poems, or good smiles about the topic in between songs.

After hearing the words "spouse," long ago, I promised myself never to use this term. In my language of origin, "spouse" is synonymous with a detainee or arrested person. I am an advocate of freedom. ~wend

Today and every day since we decided to have a ceremony, we say, Yes! To the freedom of choosing one another. Today, we affirm our commitment to integrating more parts of ourselves through this partnership, serving each other as mirrors.

This partnership upholds the highest sovereignty of our beings through mutuality, respect, honesty, and intentional support for our professional and ethical growth. We are here to receive prayers to become strong guardians of our family’s emotional, economic, physical, and spiritual safety.

We invite you to witness our commitment and, most importantly, to hold us accountable, as family or closest friends, of our promise, as we know this journey will not be easy and requires community.

Wend and Luis feel blessed to have blenders, toasters, white sheets, common items gifted during weddings such as food processors, and they do not watch TV, then no need to have a gift registry :D
